Growth Mindset vs. Fixed Mindset
Part of what makes a relationship, be it with an organization, a client, or a personal relationship, workable over time is the ability for each entity to grow, while still maintaining the connection that's the foundation of the relationship. This means a growth mindset on behalf of all involved.

A "growth mindset" is a buzzword (buzzphrase?) these last few years in most modern workplaces and among thinkers. Essentially, it's the idea that your learning and evolution of ideas is never finished.
Learning about the concept of learning and growth never being finished, for me, was a relieving concept. It's essentially one less element of pressure, to be a part of an environment that encourages and allows for constant growth. Now, to target those environments and relationships that don't -- that's the task. Maria Popova describes the concept of growth mindset v. fixed mindset well here.
Popova's article references Mindset, by Carol S. Dweck, one of the leading authors on this type of self-reflection.
