hike it baby! - laura lundahl baga

Moving into the phase where I want to get outside with my baby a lot more (he's had some of his vaccines, yay!) I started looking a couple months back for groups and ways to meet up with outdoors-minded parents. Well, there's an app for that. Enter: Hike it Baby! If you've never heard of a hike it baby, it is a app/website that facilitates groups of parents with young children meeting up for all kinds of hikes. There are many hikes happening throughout Western Washington, and I was thrilled to find that many of the hikes took place near where we live.

What's cool about hike it baby is that it is not just one meet up group- it's not a single meet up group that has various meet ups around the area. Any user makes an event. Any one within the hike it baby community can start a hike.

Hikes are rated on level of difficulty, time to completion, notes about ages of children recommended and whether you can bring your dog are usually included.

Being part of the hike it baby community also allows you an opportunity to see discounts on specific merchandise used by outdoor-loving parents. This includes baby carriers, water bottles, little person trekking poles, etc.

In early December, I was able to get out for my first hike with my newborn son and it was a great feeling - being in the Olympics with a few other parents, taking in the surroundings and being a part of something and someplace bigger than myself and my baby for a day.

Hike it Baby is $10.00 to join, and it is money well spent. Check it out!
